Re: Eddie B - RIP - 48th minute applause please at Brighton game
The trouble is far to many of them and its just human nature people just get turn off by it all and start complaining about them.

Re: Eddie B - RIP - 48th minute applause please at Brighton game
For those going to the game perhaps we can get an update for what time the fans will get to pay their respects to the other fellow hammers whose untimely demise all coincided at this unfortunate time
So far only Eddie B's is confirmed, hopefully this can be updated as and when the info comes in:

Amsterhammer - tbc
Eddie B - 48th minute
Gavros - tbc
Whitester - tbc

First time I've been on here in about a year. This is terribly sad news. Always seemed like a really nice bloke. RIP fella.

Not wanting to go too far off the actual subject of this thread (off topic on WHO I hear you say, never?!) but personally I'm not a fan of these impromptu, seemingly random minutes of applause during games.

ALL lost fans should be remembered and given the same treatment.I think this would be a much more decent and respectful way of doing it.

Maybe during half time at say the last home game of the calendar year, or even the first game of the season, there should be a 'In Memorium' section like they do during the Baftas or Oscars to remember those we've lost in the past year?

AOI it's a request from the nephew of eddie b and presumably supported by his close family I appreciate you are allowed a view on this, but could it not be left until you can raise a general point on minutes applause at football matches with a new thread after the funerals have taken place?

Nobody is asking you personally to do this if you are at the game, you can stay in your seat and ignore the applause. WHO throughout it's history has always been very edgy, but I believe a thread like this should be sacrosanct and the arguments that are likely to ensue should be debated elsewhere and not on a thread of someone who has just passed, hopefully this particular thread is where people genuinely want to leave their thoughts and express their sadness.

Just a thought mate and i'm sure many on here will debate a new thread with you.

Re: Eddie B - RIP - 48th minute applause please at Brighton game
Why do you have to stop watching a game to applause?

I’m sure it’s not that much of an inconvenience to applaud a fellow hammer who is no longer with us, if you are at a game. And I most certainly would, if I were there on Saturday.

Or you could just piss and moan about it on a football forum.

Re: Eddie B - RIP - 48th minute applause please at Brighton game
Why? Why should there be a minutes applause for a bloke just because he's a WHU supporter. There must be blokes dying every week of the season, so we'd be having to stop for a minutes applause half a dozen times a game some weeks.

For all I know this feller was a top bloke and it's very sad for his family and friends, but I don't expect a minutes applause when I kick the bucket after supporting the club since '62, so why is he a special case.

Frankly I'm sick of this maudlin, sentimental codswallop. Just stop it.

Oh Jesus. Eddie B and Whitester??? I’ve not been on here in a good while and the first time I do I read this awful news. RIP and my condolences to all those that knew them personally. Very, very sad.

For all their many faults, the club are normally very good at this sort of thing.

But they can't do everything for everyone, so people do have to take the emotion out of it when asking for things. Eddie B was a season ticket holder for many years so I'm sure they will help if asked and if possible

OTB we wanted to do this for Gavros, but i think the request has to come from the family and whoever was in touch with the family, I'm not sure what the outcome was.

ERNIE - there was one recently for some girl.

Officially the pictures/memorials are bundled together either once or twice a season (otherwise there'd be several each match) but if there's groundswell they'll notice and do something.

I'm a bit annoyed that we didn't think about this before for Gavros.

Cheers and thanks so much for doing this. Eddie was an absolute legend on here - I never met him but he was a huge part of this site. I won’t be there on Saturday, but I’ll join in the applause wherever I am

have we had a game that we've not had a minutes applause at this season or last ?

Re: Eddie B - RIP - 48th minute applause please at Brighton game
Sniper, I get the impression his nephew has contacted the club and wants the word put about. I have seen a tweet sent to Ex. Not sure if the club have granted the request or not.

I only got involved as I know one of Jon's good friends who asked me if I could put the word about. Where better than here?
